Don't shy away from questioning anything: answers may not be immediate, but rest assured answers WILL come.
Below is an explanation of each source.
The King James Version of the Bible [Standard Canon]
Many people have the Bible in their possession. Some have read it
religiously, others have no clue what is found in its pages. Here's a
summery:
The Bible is divided into two major parts, and is divided by the Birth of Jesus Christ.
After
the Torah [which comprises of the first 5 books of the OT], the
Israelites [The descendants of Abraham the Bible follows] move into
their home in present day Israel. They have Judges, Kings, and wars with
the surrounding nations.
Over this period of time [and as seen
throughout history], when the people choose to follow the prophet of
God, the people prosper; they falter and suffer when they choose to
reject God's prophets.
The Old Testament contains sacred promises, and rituals that point to the coming of a Messiah.
That Messiah is Jesus Christ.
In
the other half of the Bible, Jesus Christ [or Jehovah/the Messiah] came
to the earth as all men normally do: He was born, He lived, and He was
subject to mortality.
Jesus Christ restored his church and his
authority while working in Israel. He called Apostles [or helpers] to
perform the same miracles as He did among the people he served.
The
tragic and crowning point in the New Testament [and what the Old
Testament points toward] is the Suffering of Christ for our sins, and
his death, and his glorious triumph over death so that mankind would be
saved on conditions of repentance.
The final books in the New
Testament are letters of Christ apostles to the people in most every
part of the old world, in order to keep Christ doctrine pure.
They
teach of important gospel principles such as faith, repentance,
baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and prophecies that concern our day.

The Book of Mormon [Standard Canon]
Many people have heard of the Book of Mormon. Some have questions,
some dont. To those who do, here's what the Book of Mormon is about:
Simply put (and it says on the cover) the Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ.
It is not supposed to replace the Bible in any way, shape or form.
Rather, it enhances the truth of Christ divinity and further explains
God's plan. Both Bible and Book of Mormon edify the other.
The
Book of Mormon takes place in Jerusalem around 600 B.C., where a prophet
is warned to escape with his family to the promise land in America.
Upon
arriving, his children split up to form two major nations. Throughout
the Book of Mormon, these people face pride, wars, humility, blessings,
revelations, peace and hope in knowing of the coming of Jesus Christ,
just as God had with his people long before.
The crowning moment of the Book of Mormon takes place when Christ himself
appeared to these people [these other lost sheep of Israel] to fulfill
the laws that Moses set forth and to give them the same higher laws that
Christians must follow this day.
The history ends when after many years of peace and prosperity, these people turn themselves away from God and into darkness.
The
last two men to finish compiling this history was Mormon (whom compiled
most of the record) and his son Moroni (who buried the records into the
earth, for Joseph Smith to uncover when the time was right).
The Book of Mormon was found [under the guidance of God] by Joseph Smith, as another testimony of Jesus Christ, to take the light Christians already have and to restore it to its complete form.

The Doctrine and Covenants [Standard Canon]
This collection of modern-day revelations is usually not recommended for those new to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints [as it contains some very deep doctrine]
However, it is of importance to latter-day saints as it contains further light and knowledge and sheds some insight to both the Book of Mormon as well as the bible.
The Doctrine in Covenants, unlike ancient canon, has almost no story to it. in fact, it only gives a brief history [in each heading] as to why each revelation came to be.

The Pearl of Great Price [Standard Canon]
The Pearl of Great Price is kind of like miscellaneous scripture, and contains 5 parts:
The Book of Moses: Revelation while Joseph Smith was going over Genesis in the bible in 1830
The Book of Abraham: Scripture translated from some Egyptian papyri that came into Joseph Smith's possession in 1835
Joseph Smith — Matthew: A portion of Joseph Smith's work on translating the New Testament (see Doctrine and Covenants 45:60–61 for the divine injunction to begin the translation of the New Testament)
Joseph Smith — History: An Exert of Joseph Smith's first visions with God, Christ, the Angel Moroni and his account on the translation of the book of Mormon and receiving the priesthood to reestablish the church
The Articles of Faith: Fundamental beliefs Joseph Smith in 1842 gave in response to questions about the church.
Although this scripture is not recommended for those who understand little of our faith, it's purpose to reclaim some lost scripture that can help for better understanding of the various sections of the bible.
Church Magazines
As we believe in modern revelation, we believe in the words our prophets today have to say.
The magazines is a good source of current revelation, experiences, miracles and information for our day.
